A NEW DAY are delighted to be involved again in WEYFEST 2005.
We know nowt about the logistics of these things, and indeed my brother once famously actually failed to organise a piss-up in a brewery (true!) so our involvement has wisely been restricted solely to organising THE MUSIC. And that is something we DO know about. Oh what a line-up we have for you guys!!

There has been a music festival in or around Farnham for the last 15 years, but it was only last year that a genius came up with the name Weyfest and the whole event took on new meaning!
Weyfest is a blues/rock/folk festival which aims to raise money for charity. This year our charity is Lord Mayor Treloar's. Please see the WEYFEST website (imminent) for details of what they do.

Saturday (1pm-11pm)
Ciao Buddha

A powerful London based 3 piece playing their own eclectic brand of folk tinged progressive rock.

Flies of San Quentin
Another new band from London causing quite a stir on the circuit. All original material and a sound all of their own.

Juice
Newly formed from 'the ashes' of local favourites and long time supporters of the festival The Gerbs.

4Play
Colin webb, ex of The Gerbs with his new band.

Warblefly
Sensational thrash-folk-rockers! Imagine if you can The Pogues and The Levellers battling it out onstage and you'll get the picture!

Cold Flame
Highly respected band from Derbyshire performing a mixture of their own great rock music and their acclaimed Jethro Tull tribute show. A rare treat 'down South'!

The Wildcards
The hottest new rhythm and blues band on the circuit. This band are going to be HUGE! But don't just take our word for it:....

A combination that will have lovers of high-class guitar-driven blues drooling! Plymouth Evening Herald, UK

...an explosive mix of rockabilly, swing & jump and some very inspired rock n roll! Bobtje Blues, Belgium

...surprisingly intense and beautifully varied, the set by the outstanding new British band The Wildcards. Martin Vowles, Kevin Crowe, Vince Lee and Al Wallis obviously know very well how to win an audience, and they do that fantastically and with everything they've got: blues, boogie, swing, you name it! Real good-time music and marvellous entertainment! Back To The Roots magazine, Belgium

It's Early days, but I'd take money we'll not see a better band this year. The Running Horse, UK

If ever a British band was equipped to conquer all, surely it must be The Wildcards. The coming together of two of The Nightporters and two of Vince Lee's Big Combo has created a quartet who have it all, great musicianship and a passion for their kind of music - great swinging blues played with real feeling! Dragon Blues Festival, UK

They are already streets ahead of the competition and have the makings of a truly great band, combining astonishing assurance with the restless quest for new musical possibilities, which will give any audience goose bumps Blues In Britain Magazine, UK

Fabulastic! This is even greater then I expected. High energy, rollin' rockin' blues. Triple R Blues & Roots Radio, Holland

Impressive right from the start. A more than superb headliner for the Friday evening Moulin Blues Festival, Ospel, Holland

Their different takes on blues, swing and rockabilly has the kind of pedigree that dwarfs many of their worldwide contemporaries and reveals a professionalism that should see them take the global blues scene by storm Twenty4Seven magazine, UK

Doctor Feelgood
The champions of the 70's rebirth of British r'n'b, despite numerous line-up changes these legends of rock and blues are still going strong and we are delighted to be able to close our saturday with such a treat. Along with 9 Below Zero and the new breed such as last years Weyfest sensations Spank The Monkey the future of real ryhtm and blues could not be in safer hands. The only doctor guaranteed to make you feel good!

Sunday (2pm-9pm) Chris Conway & Dan Britton
Two amazingly talented individual singer-songwriters and multi-instrumenalists united for a show you'll cherish. Chris, a member of Vikki Clayton's band and several others, played here last year and is brought back by genuine public demand.

True Deceivers
Featuring Mark and Nick from the sadly disbanded local legends The Blazing Homesteads, we are delighted to welcome them back to Weyfest for only their 5th gig since forming True Deceivers.

Jackie Lynton Band
What can you say about Jackie Lynton? A multi talented singer, writer, story teller and even actor, Jack has played and compered the Reading Festival twice, toured with Chuck Berry and ZZ Top, supported Richie Blackmore's Rainbow and was frontman in blues-rock giants Savoy Brown in the '70's. He has fronted his own bands since the late 50's that have included the likes of Rutchie Blackmore, Jimmy Page, Albert Lee and Big Jim Sullivan and written top 10 hits for his good mates Status Quo. For a hint of the stature of the man check out the list of guest musicians on his 90's Cd 'Pinboard Wizards'; Ian Anderson and Martin Barre from Jethro Tull. Clive Bunker and Mick Abrahams from the original Tull line up. Rick Parfitt. Big Jim Sullivan. Dick Taylor from The Pretty Things and ex Rolling Stones. Mick Moody. Mike Summerland from Blodwyn Pig and Al Hodge from The Mechanics. Impressed? Don't miss this chance to see a true giant of British rock music and his amazing band.

Freeway Jam
Veterans of two Cropredy Festivals and countless others thoughout the UK. Little Feat meet Bob Dylan and The Band was how Q magazine summed up their latest CD, and we can't better that!

Mike Sanchez and His Band
A rock and roll sensation who must be seen and heard to be believed. It promises to be a fantastic end to a truly great weekend of the finest music you'll hear in these parts all year.

The Charity

We apologise if you know us well already but if not - The Treloar Trust is a charity that runs a School and College for over 320 physically disabled young people.
These young people are given every opportunity to succeed at Treloar's. We focus on education and independence, striving to give the young people the very best quality of life possible. Not only do we offer a sound education, physiotherapy, medical care and rehabilitation equipment, our independence training is amongst the best available anywhere so our young people have the best chance to go on to an independent life.
Although based wholly in Hampshire Treloar's is a national charity and we take our young people from all over the UK.
Like many other charities the eternal challenge is raising the funds to maintain the marvellous standards we have achieved and to continue the vital work, possibly expanding over time to help all the others who may need our help in the future. Through events like this, we are able to work towards this goal.
