Blazing Homesteads 'Another Country' AND CD23 £11 There is no easy way to describe the music of the Blazing Homesteads, a band whose influences are as diverse as Cajun and Bluegrass, Celtic Folk and Power Pop! The Homesteads' combine elements melody and songwriting instinct to produce a unique sound which is as infectious as it is hard to define, played with a genuine enthusiasm all too rarely found in today's music. The Blazing Homesteads blend their own songwriting with distinctive arrangements of traditional tunes and, occasionally, re-workings of their favourite songs. The sound of the Blazing Homesteads is more than just the sum of its parts. Christine Franey's voice can be by turns plaintive or hugely powerful; Mark Mitchell's fiddle playing ranges from the subtle to the ferocious; Nick Bliss combines guitar, mandolin and bouzouki to give the variety of sound which is the hallmark of the Homesteads. The backbone of the band is provided by the dynamic drums of Charlie May, perfectly complemented by Dee Coley's rock-solid bass.
