Jack The Toad Savoy Brown's 1972 lineup recorded one more album, Lion's Share, although by the time of its release in November 1972, Dave Walker left to join Fleetwood Mac and was replaced by Jackie Lynton. Lion's Share contained some memorable tracks, particularly Shot In The Head, written by former Easybeats members Harry Vanda and George Young, and Simmonds' Second Try, an excellent rocker that reached a disappointing number 151 on the U.S. charts. Postscript Savoy Brown had been having troubles for a while and were in decline around the time of this album. Unfortunately this is the point Jack joined. Kim Simmonds continued to record and tour under Savoy Brown, releasing Jack The Toad in 1973-U.S. only. It was too late the prolific and venerable English band had touched bottom by this point and actually broke up after this album's release. Tracks on this album are: 1. Coming Down Your Way (Lynton) 2. Ride on Babe (Simmonds) 3. Hold Your Fire (Raymond) 4. If I Want To (Lynton) 5. Endless Sleep (Nance/Reynolds) 6. Castin' My Spell (Johnson) 7. Just Cos' You Got the Blues Don't Mean You Gotta Sing (Lynton) 8. Some People (Berg/L/P/R/S) 9. Jack the Toad (Lynton) # 21 |
