THE TEACHING PRINCIPLES OF OUR BUSINESS
Our mission is to value all individuals, enabling them to achieve their full potential, giving them the skills to move on to their next challenge successfully.
We recognise that young people in the future will not only need to be well qualified, but will need to be flexible in their learning and develop skills for lifelong learning long after they leave us. This is at the heart of what we are doing with our students, equipping them with these key learning skills whilst helping them achieve academic success and personal maturity.
We begin by expecting that every new student will make progress. Each student will also arrive with different strengths and will develop at a different rate. It is essential therefore that we value each student as an individual, planning their progress and setting appropriate personal targets. Building self esteem, creating the atmosphere for learning and providing opportunities to celebrate success are central to our ethos.
Aims
Encourage students to embrace technology and scientific advances through our specialist status and independent learning strategies.
Promote personal development and well being.
Promote learning, enabling students to achieve the highest academic standards of which they are capable.
Objectives
Students’ progress is recorded both manually and electronically.
Students are involved in their own learning by being made aware of subject success criteria, target setting and by monitoring progress and achieving goals.
Students are provided with opportunities to excel and encouraged to go ‘the extra mile’.
Schools and parents are regularly informed and are encouraged to become closely involved in the student’s progress on the course.
An atmosphere of promoting self-esteem and pleasure in others’ success is encouraged.
The basis of a successful school is quality teaching and quality learning. We believe that effective learning is best done in small groups: our policy where possible is to run with groups of similar ability, and to keep those groups small - our maximum class size is ten.
